The launch of the ‘Blind to the Facts’ survey marks the revival of an original survey of the same name, conducted nearly 30 years ago, in 1995. Like the original survey, The Baluji Music Foundation (BMF) are seeking to expose the challenges faced by blind and visually impaired musicians across the industry, as well as investigating which steps can be taken to achieve greater inclusion.
Funded by the Vision Foundation and supported by the RNIB and Platinum Trust, the survey is certain to shed a light on how much progress has been made since the original survey. Recent statistics suggest that just 1 in 4 of the 2 million blind or visually impaired individuals in the UK are in paid employment. This startling figure exceeds the music industry and highlights the need for this survey to take place.
The ‘Blind to the Facts’ survey can be completed online or via phone call between February and April 2023.
