Surgeon turned singer-songwriter, Tim Camrose, has returned to music after a 40 year career in medicine, and with decades of pent up creative ability, Camrose decided to put this creativity in to his debut album, ‘Half of My Life’, using his experiences over a long and fruitful career and his own personal life as the inspiration for his music. It’s safe to say that this album will contain stories and perspectives that you need to hear at least once, so make sure you do not miss out!
Starting us off is the lead single ‘This is Chicago’, written on the experiences that Camrose had when he first travelled there as a trainee surgeon, going outside of his comfort zone and travelling around the city, with great lyrics that tell a story of his journey. The second track, ‘Didn’t Say’, a tribute to his late parents, using the same lyrical ability to tell a story of a personal feeling that hits home with anyone who has lost a parent. Both tracks display wonderful lyrics that are able to paint a picture of two very different feelings, on two very different topics, showcasing the ability that Camrose has in creating music, showing that there isn’t a topic that he can’t turn into an engaging story that leaves you on the edge of your seat.
After a more than enjoyable start to ‘Half of My Life’, it’s followed up with track such as ‘She Saw Dolphins’ and ‘Take You to a Place’ that carry on the songwriting and musical quality that we saw at the start. Again, Camrose uses his creative storytelling ability that keeps this album so great, safely replicating the same quality that we’ve become accustomed to with his music.
Heading into the rest of ‘Half of My Life’, songs such as ‘London Love Stories’ and ‘Time to Leave the Stage’ carry on the same great vocal ability, and further demonstrating just how good Camrose’s music is. Lyrics that paint a picture of several topics, music that suits every mood all held together by vocals that fit perfectly.
Overall, ‘Half of My Life’ is a debut album worth remembering. Decades in the making, it’s an album that carries so much life experience and stories that are delivered by vocals that have been waiting to be heard. With so much to enjoy about it, make sure this one is added to your playlist – having been released on May 30th earlier this year, it’s out there now for you to enjoy. Don’t miss out!
