If you’re a fan of the simplistic sound of an acoustic guitar and immense vocals, then we have just the single for you! Coming to us on the 25th January, is Crabb’s ‘Mykonos’, a track that gives fans a taste of what’s to come the release of his full album, ‘English American’. The final project from Steve Brown, a legendary producer and personal friend to Crabb who has worked with music legends such as Elton John and Freddie Mercury. After his passing, Steve Lillywhite CBE was called forward to produce, giving his creative input onto a project that is sure to excite anyone.
‘Mykonos’ is not only the lead single, but is also a love letter to Crabb’s wife, where he pens meaningful lyrics about falling in love with music to match the same quality. Fantastic vocals that work nicely with his guitar, creating the perfect atmosphere for a song of this nature. A stripped back acoustic song that allows the lyrics and vocal performance to stand out, giving it a raw edge that makes a song that is full to the brim with the emotion just feel that touch more personal. An overall great song, it’s definitely one to keep an eye on and to keep in mind for the full album – if the single is this good, just how good is the album going to be?
Release alongside a video, with contemporary dancer Tess Howell providing the visual performance, taking place at London’s Langdon Centre, owned by the Downs Syndrome Association. The venue was chosen for the video in support of the ‘Mykonos’ engineer, whose daughter also has down syndrome, while being a wonderful performer in her own right.
‘Mykonos’ will drop on January 25th, meaning that it won’t be too long until you can indulge in this fantastic acoustic hit that is the perfect warm up for ‘English American’, which has been 20 years in the making. The album started when Crabb met Steve Brown in the 90s as they became close friends who worked at Sony EMI together. The music they recorded would serve as the foundations for the album, with added production from Steve Lilywhite CBE that really does make this one of the most exciting projects of 2023. Make sure you don’t miss ‘Mykonos’, you absolutely will not regret it!
