A Newer Morning (For John) is the new charity album by Michael Boguski with all proceeds going to John Brandham’s recovery and Stroke Association UK.
John Brandham worked as the stage technician for Suede and tragically suffered a stroke in 2019. A Newer Morning (For John) is a reimagining of classic Suede songs with a contemporary jazz infusion.
A Newer Morning (For John) is immaculately produced and will attract music fanatics to its originality, alongside gaining attention from Suede lovers and bringing their catalogue to a whole new fanbase. This album is for everyone.
“The die-hard Suede fan will immediately recognize that the arrangements don’t sound anything like the originals, and that was deliberate on my part. I didn’t want to re-do what has already been done.”
Despite the album’s jazzy approach and inherent masterful technique, it also has a peculiar melancholic feel to it. There is still the underlying-ness of a cover by definition, but modern jazz tropes are present and the album is much more refreshing for it.
