Happy Birthday to the below musicians, who all add another year to their age today, October 25th.
Roy Lynes (b 1943), Keyboardist with UK rockers Status Quo. Despite frequent derision as ‘three-chord-dinosaurs,’ the band have racked up an impressive 25 UK top ten albums, and released over 100 singles.
Jon Anderson (b 1944), lead singer for one of the most successful prog rock groups of all time: Yes. With five Grammy Awards and sales in the millions, Yes remain near the pinnacle of prog-rock mountain.
Glenn Tipton (b 1947), much-respected guitarist best-known for wielding his axe in mighty heavy metaller’s Judas Priest. Priest have notched more than 50 million album sales.
Matthias Jabs (b 1956), guitarist with The Scorpions,, whose 1991 hit single, “Winds of Change,” remains the best-selling song by a German artist or group.
Robbie MacIntosh (b 1957), guitarist and vocalist who was a member of Chrissie Hynde’s The Pretenders. MacIntosh has also worked solo, and in collaboration with such heavy-hitters as Paul McCartney and John Mayer.
