Israeli stage star Anat Porat has returned to music with her captivating debut album Back to New. Released on July 28th, 2023, the 11-track record contains a blend of folk and acoustic music, showcasing Anat’s unique sound and captivating stories.
The album’s single, “The Loyal Father” is a perfect example of this. This “dark fairytale dressed in light and almost ironic melody” tells a story of a King’s enforcer who must choose between loyalty to the crown and loyalty to his daughter. Filmed against a breathtaking Swiss lake, it follows a heartbroken father and his tumultuous relationship with his daughter as Anat sings her story. Back to New marks a new chapter for Anat Porat, who has taken an extended hiatus to raise her family. After making her name in the Israeli production of Les Miserables, she graciously stepped away from the limelight for two decades before returning to the theatre in 2016. She hasn’t stopped making music since, bringing even more life experience to her music.
She even features her daughter, Sh ira, in a few of the record’s songs as a duet.
